The concept of a paternity leave may be stipulated by law as an acceptable form of a leave from work. But for some reason, there are still some men who frown on actually enjoying this particular type of leave.
One of the reasons for this kind of apprehension could partly be blamed on machismo. There are still some men whose heads are still wired towards a very chauvinistic mind frame where men should not really be involved with what they perceive as the duties of women. But what would probably be the biggest factor is that their superiors think that men shouldn’t be gone away for so long because it is the mommies who are more hands on with the baby. They forget that a paternity leave is helpful in establishing a bond between the father and the baby.
